OK guys, I could use some advice. As most of you know I have been complaining of "loose" steering on my JK for some time. I towed the jeep home from Moab behind the RV. I unhooked the jeep and started to drive it and pretty much lost steering and had the wobble. I checked it out and found that a bolt holding the track bar to the bracket had come out. I replaced the bolt and gained control back but the steering was still loose. I drove it to Grand Junction and back as well as doing the 21 Road trail. No real difference in the steering. Monday I started out on our Chinaman trip and got two blocks and then the dreaded "death wobble" started. I have looked at the jeep under carrage and can not find anything broken or really loose. I do see that the rubber bushings that are on the "new" Rock Krawler tie rod are SHOT. One is shredded and the other torn. Could these cause the wobble and be the answer to the loose steering? Opinions.....

Simplist solutions first. Tires may need rebalanced. rotate rear to front/ have rebalanced, and retest drive. If you still have the wobble, then proceed to replacing bushings, (which, agree with Roy, need replaced anyway)

After I returned from Grand Junction I found that I had a slice in one of my tires. I had it replaced and the tires balanced and rotated. I drove home from the store without trouble.

well then if the lug nuts are still all tight then I would say to check and replace the bad bushings in your steering set up.

'Rock Krawler' tie rod, or control arms? Cuz the tie rod only has one rubber bushing on the axle end, right?
