After increasing my tire size to 37" and running low air pressures while offroading I blew the stock power steering pump.   The pump was covered under warranty but not wanting it to happen again, I decided to install a power steering pump cooler/ reservoir.   It's a pretty simple install to do and I think well worth the time and money to do.

I ordered this Derale Heat Sink Cooler off the PSC website for $75 and it arrived in 5 days.  Here's a picture of the install instructions that came with it.   They were very generic so I had to improvise.

The cooler is made from aluminum and is approx 3" x 14" long.

I knew it had to go inside here behind the grille someplace, but where?

I removed the grille and took a closer look.   The grille comes out extremely easily.  Using a flat head screw driver, pop the top plastic fasteners on the right and left sides first, then the lower fasteners come right off.
Here's a good place to locate the cooler, it's out of the way and allows for plenty of air flow around it...

I disconnected the low pressure hose at the stock reservoir and re-connected it to one of the two fittings on the cooler.   This new design puts both inlet and outlet side by side on the same end which is a good improvement from the old style that had the connections on opposite ends.   But first I wanted to drain the fluid level in the stock reservoir below the fitting to ensure none of the fluid was wasted or spilled when I removed the hose.   I find that the well thought out "turkey seasoning syringe and Starbucks fluid collector" are excellent tools for a mess free way to do this.

You can see in this photo that the fluid lever is below the side hose outlet so I removed the stock hose and attached it to the cooler inlet, and attached the new hose that will come in from the cooler outlet.

I painted the cooler black and attached it to the cross bar at the bottom of the radiator.   Here you can see it prior to reinstalling the grille.

Okay, and that's about all there is to it.   The grille went back on as easy as it came off and Voila, you can't hardly even see it's there!   Can you?  This install takes about 2 hours to complete.
Here's a few pics taken after the grille was put back on...
